ACC will participate in Make a Difference Day

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road, is participating in Make a Difference Day on Saturday for the third year in a row. The day is a national day of helping others.

The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the church with a brief time of inspiration and orientation. Then, more than 60 volunteers will get to work. Some will head into the community to help others at their homes. Members who remain at the church will put together 150 Thanksgiving food baskets, and several church members will visit shut-ins. Homemade candy will be given to Southern Care, a local hospice facility, for the patients.

For several weeks, knitters from the church have been making bandages that will be shipped overseas for those with leprosy, AIDS and other illnesses.

From 5 to 7 p.m., ACC will host its first Trunk and Treat event for children ages 3 to 15 accompanied by an adult. It is an alternative fall party with treats, costumes and games.
