OCCHA plans dinner to celebrate anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — The Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana celebrates its 36th anniversary at its annual fund-raising dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.

The social hours is at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Dancing and other musical entertainment will be from 8 to 11 p.m. provided by Conjunto Riquena and disc jockey Chico.

Dinner tickets are $60 per person. Chinese and silent auctions will take place.

The chairman of this year’s event is local businessman Shorty Navarro, owner of car dealerships in Boardman and Salem.

OCCHA is a nonprofit organization founded in 1972 that serves the Hispanic community in and around Mahoning County.

It assists the Hispanic community by providing programs related to social services, housing, clothing, emergency food, health services, labor-related problems, youth programs, English classes, computer literacy, job placement, after-school tutorial program, a bilingual program and summer day camp.
