Akron 42, E. Michigan 35 — YPSILANTI, Mich. — Akron’s Andy Hildreth recovered a blocked field goal to set up Dennis Kennedy’s third touchdown. Andy Schmitt threw three touchdown passes for the Eagles (2-6, 1-3 MAC). But Kennedy ran for 277 yards as Akron (2-2, 4-4) racked up 547 yards of total offense. Josh LeDuc caught a 6-yard TD pass from Schmitt to put Eastern ahead with 3:49 left, then blocked Ivan Iveljic’s 26-yard field goal attempt with 39 seconds remaining. But Hildreth, the holder on the kick, grabbed the ball and ran to the Eagles’ 5-yard line to give Akron a first down. Kennedy scored from four yards out, then ran in the two-point conversion.

Miami (Ohio) 27, Bowling Green 20 — BOWLING GREEN — J.R. Taylor rushed for 127 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run in the game’s final minutes. The RedHawks (2-5, 1-2 MAC) jumped out to a 14-3 second quarter lead on a 53-yard touchdown pass from Clay Belton to Chris Givens. Two Tyler Sheehan touchdown throws and a field goal put Bowling Green (3-4, 1-2) ahead 20-14 in the third. Miami’s Nathan Parseghian hit two field goals to tie it by the start of the fourth and the RedHawks later went on a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ended in Taylor’s score with 2:35 remaining. Sheehan completed 21 of 34 passes for 224 yards and an interception. Anthony Turner caught seven passes for 88 yards and Corey Partridge had six catches for 73 yards for the Falcons, including a 29-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Buffalo 27, Army 24, OT — AMHERST, N.Y. — A.J. Principie hit a 34-yard field goal in the first overtime, as Buffalo overcame two 14-point deficits. Drew Willy threw fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Naaman Roosevelt and Ernest Jackson to force overtime. Buffalo linebacker Justin Winters also forced a key fumble — punching the ball out of the hands of Collin Mooney — to set up the Bulls’ tying score, Jackson’s 15-yard touchdown catch with 4:19 remaining. The Bulls (3-4) snapped a three-game losing streak, and bounced back a week after squandering a 14-point deficit in a 34-28 loss to Western Michigan.

Cent. Michigan 38, W. Michigan 28 — MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Brian Brunner passed for 346 yards and a touchdown and Bryan Schroeder ran for 106 yards and two scores for Central Michigan. Brunner outdueled Broncos quarterback Tim Hiller, who set a school record and a Kelly/Shorts Stadium record with 471 yards passing. Hiller was 38-for-53 with two touchdowns. Central Michigan (5-2, 4-0 MAC) and Western Michigan (6-2, 4-1) combined for 1,044 yards of offense.

N. Illinois 38, Toledo 7 — DEKALB, Ill. — Redshirt freshman Chandler Harnish threw for three touchdowns in his first start in five weeks. Harnish, sidelined Sept. 6 with a foot sprain, was 12-of-16 for 173 yards passing and rushed for 60 more as the Huskies (4-3, 3-1 MAC West) won for the fourth time in their last five games. Toledo (2-5, 1-2) had its lone score on Morgan Williams’ 21-yard touchdown run with 9:37 left in the third quarter.
