EAST PALESTINE — A Halloween parade, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1. on Market Street. Also, the Moose Club, 43 W. Rebecca St., will sponsor a Halloween party for local children after the parade. Trick or treat will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. that day.

Building for sale

MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County commissioners are advertising District Justice Larry Silvis’ old building for sale. They said Wednesday that an ad has been placed in an area publication for sale of the old office on Grove City-Sandy Lake Road near Jackson Center. The brick-and-block building was built in the mid-1970s and is about 1,800 square feet.

A new building for Silvis’ court opened in the summer on Pa. Route 208, north of Grove City. Officials had said the old building was too small and had security problems and a leaky roof.

Halloween party for kids

YOUNGSTOWN — A Halloween party called Safe Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Youngstown Police Department training center, 1639 Mahoning Ave. (the old fire station) for children age 1-13. McGruff the Crime Dog will be there, along with a puppet show, games, prizes and refreshments. Donations such as hot dogs, buns, juice or sodas, chips, candy and prizes are appreciated. Divorce recovery

HUBBARD — A nondenominational divorce recovery program meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays in the basement administration building of St. Patrick Church, 25 N. Main Street. Entry is through the side door by the Divorce Recovery Sign. The program is both educational and supportive to help individuals cope with separation and divorce. There is no charge. Town hall meeting

YOUNGSTOWN — Councilwoman Carol Rimedio-Righetti, D-4th, is inviting residents and business owners in the 4th Ward to a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the ITAM Club, 115 S. Meridian Road. Mayor Jay Williams and other city officials, as well as Nazario Mendoza, the ward’s community organizer, are expected to attend.

Halloween event delayed

YOUNGSTOWN — A Halloween event has been moved back as the South Branch Public Library will be closed Oct. 21 and 28. The branch of the Youngstown and Mahoning County Library at 1771 Market St. will close its doors those Tuesdays to rebuild the ramp at its front entrance.

The “Haunted Happening Halloween” program, originally set for Oct. 28, has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. Families are invited to dress up and enjoy stories, games and crafts for free. Patrons are asked to sign up for the event in advance.
