Duraflame Stax logs can be used in wood stoves

Duraflame now has stackable logs that produce a bigger, more realistic fire.

Duraflame says its Stax logs are also the first manufactured fire logs that can be burned safely in wood stoves. They can be used in outdoor fire pits, too.

Stax come in three- and six- log bundles, with suggested retail prices of $9.99 and $19.99, respectively. Three logs will burn 31‚Ñ2 hours, and additional fire logs can be added as needed.

They’re being introduced at Kmart and are expected to be available at Target starting in January.

Power Monitor helps save on energy bills

The average household spends more than $1,900 per year on energy bills, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

You can save some of that money using the Power Monitor from the Black & Decker Energy Saver Series.

The tool monitors the rate electricity is consumed and transmits the information to a hand-held display monitor inside your home. It calculates in real time how much electricity is used and displays the cost in dollars and cents.

An appliance-mode feature isolates the cost of individual appliances or electronic devices as they are turned on so that you can keep track of how much you can save by limiting the use of certain devices.

The tool can help you save as much as 20 percent of your electric bill a month.

Cost is $99.99.
