Blockinger 50th includes family ride on a trolley

• AUSTINTOWN — A trolley ride on Oct. 12 was a surprise for Mr. and Mrs. Donald Blockinger, 288 S. Turner Road, who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Arranging the event and joining the couple for the ride, and for a dinner party at the Fifth Season, were their family, Rich and Cheryl Klempay and Kevin and Colleen Miller, all of Austintown; Jim and Christine Tyrrell of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mike and Carin Bellack of Cranberry Township, Pa. The couple also have eight grandchildren.

The former Joanne Popovich and Mr. Blockinger were united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1958, at Holy Family Church. The couple are members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Mrs. Blockinger, a homemaker, enjoys golfing and bowling as pastimes.

Mr. Blockinger served with the U.S. Army. He was employed as a skilled tradesman for 30 years at General Motors in Lordstown prior to retiring in 1995. He is also a bowler.
