SCHOOL ISSUES Levies and bonds
Voters across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties will be asked to vote on a variety of school levies and bond issues:
AUSTINTOWN: A 4.9-mill, five-year additional levy for operating expenses and general improvements to raise $2,959,731 annually.
BOARDMAN: A 2.4-mill, five-year renewal levy for emergency requirements to raise $1,999,547 annually.
JACKSON-MILTON: A 0.9-mill, five-year renewal levy for general, ongoing permanent improvements to raise $80,834 annually; and a 5.5-mill, five-year renewal levy for emergency purposes to raise $988,485 annually.
SOUTH RANGE: A 2.5-mill, five-year renewal levy to avoid an operating deficit to raise $430,555 annually.
WESTERN RESERVE: A 7.6-mill, 28-year bond issue for constructing, renovating, remodeling, furnishing and improving district buildings and facilities, raising $11,244,951 over 28 years.
YOUNGSTOWN: A 9.5-mill, four-year additional levy for emergency purposes to raise $5,291,510 annually.
CHAMPION: An 8.75-mill, five-year renewal levy for the emergency requirements of the school district to raise $1,655,168 annually.
HOWLAND: A 4.7-mill, 28-year bond issue for the purpose of building, furnishing and equipping a new high school and auditorium, acquiring, clearing, equipping and otherwise improving school district buildings and facilities and improving their sites, raising $43,700,000 over 28 years.
LABRAE: A 3-mill, five-year renewal levy for renovating, improving, remodeling, constructing, adding to, furnishing and equipping school facilities and improving school sites to raise $204,151 annually.
LAKEVIEW: A 3.85-mill, five-year additional levy for emergency requirements of the school district to raise $1,050,000 annually.
LIBERTY: A 0.9-mill, five-year renewal levy for general permanent improvements to raise $147,944 annually.
MATHEWS: A 9.25-mill, five-year replacement and decrease levy for current expenses to raise $1,356,166 annually.
NILES: A 4.3-mill, 28-year bond issue to pay the local share of school construction under the Ohio Classroom Facilities Assistance Program to raise $18,028,977 over 28 years; a 0.5-mill, 23-year additional levy to maintain the classroom facilities to raise $130,712 annually; and a 0.5-mill, 23-year bond issue for the purpose of building, renovating, remodeling, adding to, furnishing and equipping sites for such buildings and facilities to raise $2 million over 23 years.
WARREN: An 8.85-mill, five-year renewal levy for the emergency requirements of the school district to raise $3,918,802 annually.
BEAVER: A 5.3-mill, five-year renewal levy for emergency requirements to raise $1.2 million annually.
COLUMBIANA: A $13.3 million bond issue for up to 28 years for new construction, renovations and modernization of school facilities.
LEETONIA: A 7-mill, 10-year levy for emergency requirements of the district to avoid a deficit of $460,000 annually.
UNITED: A 3-mill, five-year renewal levy to fund the permanent improvement fund to raise $167,300 annually.
WELLSVILLE: A 2-mill, five-year levy for permanent improvements to raise $51,000 a year.
