JACKSON-MILTON \ Board of education agenda
School officials handled these matters at their meeting Thursday:
Announced a district pep rally for noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at the elementary school on Mahoning Avenue. Afterward, a guided tour will take place at the new $14.5 million Jackson-Milton High School/Middle School, which is under construction and set to open by September 2009 for pupils in grades seven through 12. People will have the opportunity to see what is going on with the facility, Treasurer John Zinger said.
Heard from Lake Milton resident Rochelle Morelli, a teacher at the high school, who is coordinating an effort to help a family whose home was destroyed in a recent fire. Ed Welsch and his family, including two children who go to school in the district, lost most of their possessions; people are asked to drop off clothing, toys, gift cards, money and other needs at Jackson-Milton High School between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. “We want to make sure that that family is taken care of,” Morelli said.
