BOARDMAN — Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Ave., will have a fall concert at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 featuring the sanctuary choir. A free-will offering will benefit Operation Christmas Child, which provides holiday gifts to needy children. The event is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Kingdom Kids program

YOUNGSTOWN — Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, will sponsor Kingdom Kids from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 20. Sessions are geared to children from 4 years old through seventh grade. Activities are Bible lessons, music, games, homemade suppers and Christian fellowship. To attend, call (330) 757-9105.

Church’s 83rd anniversary

STRUTHERS — The Amalgamated Choir will be in concert at 5 p.m. next Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 67 McClure St., as the kickoff for its 83rd anniversary. Guest soloist will be Connie Matthews of Niagara Falls, N.Y. “A Chosen Generation” is the theme for the 83rd anniversary service, scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 26. The Rev. Julius Davis and his congregation from Friendship Baptist Church in Girard will participate. The Rev. Lee T. Rucker Jr. is host pastor.

Blessing of animals

COLUMBIANA — Christ the King Anglican Church, 202 E. Park Ave., will have a blessing of animals at 2 p.m. Sunday at Firestone Park by the Columbiana softball field. The Rev. Lee Martin will conduct the service.

Thoughts from The Word

SOUTHINGTON — Delightful Evangelical Church, U.S. Route 422 at Barclay-Messerly Road, is offering a program of musical entertainment and thoughts from The Word from Pastor Nelson Wilhelm at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 26. The program will be followed by a dinner in the church.

Racism symposium

YOUNGSTOWN — Jacob’s Well, a Symposium on Racism, will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Salvation Army Center, 1501 Glenwood Ave. Valley-area Christians will discuss the role of race and racism in the church. Dinner will be offered at 5:30 p.m. followed by small group conversations at 6:15 p.m.

The program is sponsored by the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Youngstown, the Baptist Pastor’s Council and The Center for Working-Class Studies at Youngstown State University.

‘Trunk and Treat’

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road, will have a “Trunk and Treat” from 5 to 7 p.m. next Saturday for children ages 3 to 15 accompanied by an adult.

It’s an alternative fall party with treats, costumes and games.

A costume parade will begin at 5 p.m., and parents and church members will be in the parking lot distributing treats form the trunks of their cars. Refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall after the parade.

Hospice help is topic

YOUNGSTOWN — Katrina Walker, outreach coordinator for Hospice of the Valley, will speak on the topic “Hospice: Reaching Out to African-Americans,” at noon next Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St. The program, designed to increase awareness and understanding of available hospice services, is sponsored by The Nurse’s Ministry of the church.

Five-day revival set

NEWTON FALLS — The Rev. Tommy Gillum will be the guest speaker for the five-day revival by the General Assembly Church of God, 2021 E. River Road.

The Rev. Mr. Gillum is a former pastor of the Church of God in Leavittsburg and lives in Missouri. He will address the revival each night Oct. 29 through Nov. 2.

The revival will begin at 7 p.m. the first four nights and at 6 p.m. Nov. 2. Different special guest singers will perform each night, followed by a service led by Mr. Gillum.

Annual Songfest set

CAMPBELL — The Music Ministry of Shiloh Baptist Church will present its annual Songfest at 4 p.m. Oct. 26 in the church at 238 Bright Ave. Talent from the local area as well as Warren and Pennsylvania will participate.

Career Fair scheduled

YOUNGSTOWN — The Educational Ministry of New Bethel Baptist Church will have its annual Career Fair from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at 1507 Hillman St.

The program is co-sponsored by National College and Job Corps. Presentations will be made by National College, the Job Corps, Upward Bound and others. The event is free and open to the public, particularly young people between ages 16 and 24 interested in Job Corps participation.
