Grand matrons named at Eastern Star event

DAYTON — The Dayton Convention Center was the setting for the 119th annual convention of the Order of Eastern Star on Sept. 26, 27 and 28.

The theme for this year’s three-day gathering was “Faith, Family, Friends — Guidelines for Life.”

A highlight of the convention was the installation of Grand Chapter officers, who will head the organization during 2008-2009. Among the newly appointed deputy grand matrons ushered onto the convention floor by the grand conductress were Leah Gray of Ashtabula, who will serve Region A-District 1 in Ashtabula, and Holly Robinson of Cortland, who will serve District 2, which includes Trumbull, Mahoning, and Summit counties, and Cuyahoga Falls.

The festivities concluded with a banquet on the final night of the convention.
