AUSTINTOWN — Slim, of the R&B quartet 112, known for his hit song “So Fly,” will give a solo concert at 9 p.m. Friday at The Wedge, 1743 S. Raccoon Road. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $50 reserved VIP. Dress code enforced. This is an 18-and-over show.
WYSU will launch fall fund drive
YOUNGSTOWN — Listener-supported WYSU 88.5 FM, Youngstown State University’s public radio service, will hold its annual fall fund drive Friday through Oct. 24 with a goal of $100,000, its highest ever.
Everyone who makes a pledge — either as a new member, a renewing member or with an additional gift — will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets for a 14-day tour of Spain, valued at $7,000.
Throughout the drive, WYSU will also offer new HD (digital) radios as daily prizes.

Organist to perform on church’s pipe organ
YOUNGSTOWN — British concert organist William Whitehead will appear in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., downtown.
Whitehead is a professor at Trinity College of Music in London. He will play Trinity Church’s M ∂ller pipe organ. A free-will offering will be received.
Nick Costa dinner-show will benefit Rich Center
BOARDMAN — A dinner-show featuring Nick Costa and Bill Pirie will be Nov. 20 at the Georgetown, 5945 South Ave. A portion of the revenue will benefit the Rich Center for Autism at Youngstown State University.
Dinner music will be provided by the Gabriel Duo with vocals by Butch Nichols.
Tickets are $39.95 and are available by calling Ciao Promotions at (330) 757-2779. Senior citizen and group discounts are available. There will be a cash bar.
A check will be presented to the Rich Center during intermission.
Costa last appeared in Youngstown in 2007. His act is a mix of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darrin and more.
