Civil War presentation set for Saturday at Arms Museum


YOUNGSTOWN — Local historian Steffon W. Jones presents a Civil War historical show from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Arms Museum, 648 Wick Ave. Jones will portray black Civil War soldier Anderson Vactor and a “Buffalo Soldier.”

Buffalo Soldiers, who drew their name from the American Indians for their tenacity in battle, were comprised of former slaves, freemen and black Civil War soldiers, and were the first to serve in the U.S. Army during peace time after the Civil War, says the Web site www.buffalosoldiers.com.

The cost is $3 for senior citizens; $5 for adults; and $3 for children.
