Akron homicide suspect caught in Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN — A suspect in an Akron double homicide that happened in January was caught by city police.
With the help of with the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, Youngstown officers arrested Kaqun Slocum, 18, of Youngstown, wanted by the Akron Police Department for aggravated murder. Slocum was arrested Wednesday on East Brooklyn Avenue.
On Jan. 1, Tammy Dickey, 30, of Youngstown, and Scott Smith, 33, of Akron, were gunned down inside a vehicle behind an Akron strip club during a drug deal, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Marquez Perry, 19, of Youngstown, was arrested at the scene of the shooting and convicted Wednesday of the murders, but Slocum fled the crime scene and was able to avoid police for more than more than nine months.
He is being held in the Mahoning County jail awaiting extradition to Summit County to face the murder charges.
