Testimony in Adams trial pushed back to Wednesday
Bennie Adams
YOUNGSTOWN — Testimony in the murder trial of Bennie Adams will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday before Judge Timothy E. Franken in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Opening statements originally were to begin today, but Judge Franken said a witness was unavailable because of illness.
The jury did go today to view the North Side duplex that was the home of Adams and Gina Tenney and other sites, including where her body was found on the Mahoning River at the West Avenue bridge.
Adams, 51, of Hollywood Avenue, is charged with aggravated murder and could be sentenced to death if convicted of killing Tenney.
Police say Adams strangled Tenney, a 19-year-old Youngstown State University student from Ashtabula, on Dec. 29, 1985. Tenney was an upstairs neighbor of Adams in an Ohio Avenue duplex.
