Ron Chick’s Friends to entertain at Lucianno’s

Place:Lucianno's Restaurant

1732 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — Ron Chick’s Friends has found a new home at Lucianno’s Banquet Center.

The band, which hosts several dinner-dances each year, had been using the Boardman Holiday Inn ballroom as its home base. The 22-piece big band jazz orchestra moved its performances to Lucianno’s this summer. Its second show at the Wedgewood Plaza venue will be Sunday.

“It’s a brand new facility and it’s beautiful,” said Chick. “It has a large, all-wood dance floor, and it’s great for ballroom dancers. And the sound in that facility is almost perfect acoustically.”

Chick said the food is wonderful.

Wedgewood Plaza is at the corner of New and Raccoon roads.

Sunday’s event begins at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 5:30 p.m., and the dance-concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 with dinner, and $23 for just the concert and coffee bar. Call (330) 788-0494 for reservations.

Ron Chick’s Friends plays the music of big band greats, including Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Frank Sinatra and Natalie Cole. Featured vocalist for Sunday’s show will be Bobby Remp, with guest vocalist Rachell Joy.
