Robbery charge follows crash into ditch

BOARDMAN — A Youngstown man faces charges of aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest, accused of robbing another man at gunpoint.

Police were called about 9:15 p.m. Monday to Hitchcock Road where an 18-year-old man told them he had pulled into his driveway and another car pulled in behind him. The man said he was expecting friends and believed it was them. He finished getting food from his car when he was confronted by a man, later identified as Terrance Robinson Jr. of Coronado Avenue, pointing a gun at him.

“Give me your money,” the man told the victim. He took a debit card that belonged to the victim’s mother.

When the victim started to walk toward the house, the robber said: “Give me your pass code or I’ll shoot up your house,” a police report said.

The robber left in his car but drove into a ditch. The victim then followed to get a license plate number.

A police officer located the car on Hillman Way and detained Robinson who continually disobeyed officers’ orders, a police report said. The victim then identified Robinson as the suspect.

Robinson was arrested and police found two handguns in his vehicle. The debit card was in his underwear.

Robinson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court.
