Here’s where to look for the latest news

Today’s a great news day in the Valley. Keep clicking here for the latest on three big stories:

BIDEN VISIT: Democratic vice-presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden leads a Change We Need rally today at the Warren Community Amphitheatre, 303 Mahoning Ave. N.W., off Courthouse Square, downtown.

ARSON TRIAL: Michael A. Davis’ aggravated murder and arson death-penalty trial switched to the defense today.

Davis, 18, of Bennington Avenue is charged with setting fire to 1645 Stewart Ave. around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 23. The arson killed six members of the Crawford family — Carole Crawford, 46; her daughter, Jennifer R. Crawford, 23; and Jennifer’s four children, Ranaisha, 8; Jeannine, 5; Aleisha, 3; and Brandon, 2. All died from smoke inhalation. Five others escaped the fire.

COLD CASE: Jurors arriving at 9 a.m. today for the capital murder trial of Bennie L. Adams in the 1985 strangulation of 19-year-old Gina Tenney will first be taken to view the crime scenes.

In a viewing requested by defense lawyers, they’ll visit the duplex in which Adams and Tenney were neighbors in the 2200 block of Ohio Avenue; then they’ll be shown the spot where Tenney’s body was found floating in the Mahoning River at West Avenue, the day after her death.

When they return from their trip, jurors will hear opening statements from the lawyers in the trial, which is before Judge Timothy E. Franken.
