Viet Nam POW to campaign here for McCain

Col. Tom Moe, a Vietnam War veteran who spent more than five years in a Hanoi prison cell next to then- Navy Lt. Commander John McCain, is visiting the Mahoning Valley today.

Escorting Moe will be Richard Stobbs, the Republican nominee for the 6th Congressional District and a Vietnam veteran.

Moe will speak on behalf of McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, at 11 a.m. at the Mahoning County Veterans Memorial at the Canfield Fairgrounds on state Route 46.

Moe is to then go to the Hope Cemetery’s War Memorial on North Lincoln Avenue in Salem at 1 p.m.

Moe is to be at the Village Green of Lisbon, in front of the Civil War Cannon Memorial, at 2:30 p.m.

All of the events are open to the public.

Also, the Trumbull County Republican Party will have a debate party for the third and final debate at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sorrento Banquet Room, 2488 Parkman Road N.W. in Warren.

To RSVP, call (330) 372-6178. The party still needs poll watchers and people to hand out literature election night, officials say.
