Second Harvest gets $10K grant
YOUNGSTOWN — The Second Harvest Food Bank was recently awarded a grant for $10,000 from The Youngstown Foundation to buy new equipment.
With the grant money Second Harvest was able to buy pallet trucks and a manual pallet mover.
“The pallet jacks will help us move food more efficiently, which means getting food out to those that need it sooner,” said Mike Iberis, executive director of the food bank.
More than 5 million pounds of food was distributed to hunger relief organizations in 2007 by the food bank.
Second Harvest provides food to Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
