McDonald is Earich champion
BAZETTA — The McDonald High School boys and girls won Division III team championships during the Sim Earich Invitational cross country meet Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.
McDonald’s boys defended their title as they scored 40 points. Canton Central Catholic finished second with 91.
Nate Addessi (16 minutes, 36 seconds) of Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas took first place in the 5000-meter run.
Jordan McKelley (16:39) of St. Thomas Aquinas was second, David Chick (16:51) of East Palestine was third and Bobby Devita (17:10) of McDonald was fourth.
The McDonald girls won with 58 points and Western Reserve Academy was second with 64.
Christian Oprean (18:40) of Canton Central Catholic took first place in the race. Monica Ciarniello (19:16) of Lowellville and Samantha Hamilton (19:45) of Jackson-Milton were second and third, respectively.
Cleveland St. Ignatius took the boys Div. I-II crown with 40 points. Walsh Jesuit was second with 79. Tyler Ames (16:23) of Lakeview was individual champ with Noah Hawkins (16:30) of Walsh Jesuit finishing second.
In the girls Div. I-II race, it was very close as Magnificat (70 points), Beaumont (74), Salem (77) and Walsh Jesuit (83) placed 1-2-3-4.
Chelsea Oswald (18:32) of Walsh Jesuit won the run while Lauren Shivers (19:53) of Salem and Caitlin Clapacs (20:28) of Hathaway Brown placed second and third, respectively.
