Sting nets solicitation suspects in Warren

Future stings will target the ‘johns,’ police said.

STAFF report

WARREN — The Warren Police Department Narcotics/Vice Unit conducted a sting operation targeting prostitution in the Belmont- and North Park-avenue areas Thursday night, resulting in the arrest of four women.

An undercover officer, posing as someone wanting to buy sex, drove around the area, in the northest part of the city, and approached women standing on the street corners.

Charged with solicitation, a misdemeanor, were Brita Brogdon, 41, of Tod Avenue, Warren; Julie Tenney, 35, of Mahan Denman Road, Bristolville; Keysa Haynes, 39, of Oak Knoll Avenue, Warren; and Courtney Allgood, 22, of Forest Street N.E., Warren.

All four were booked into the Trumbull County jail and were due to be arraigned Friday morning in Warren Municipal Court.

The sting’s first arrest occurred at 7:45 p.m. at Belmont and Mercer avenues. The second one was at 8:36 p.m. at Mercer Avenue and Atlantic Street. The third one was at 10 p.m. at North Park and Belmont avenues. And the fourth arrest was six minutes later in the same location, police said.

Brogdon and Haynes were also allegedly in possession of crack pipes and were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, said Lt. Thomas Skoczylas, narcotics/vice unit commander.

Skoczylas said more stings are planned, and some will target the “johns,” meaning the people attempting to buy sex.
