Man faces stolen-property charge

AUSTINTOWN — A Burkey Road man is charged with receiving stolen property after the aggravated burglary earlier this week of a 74-year-old South Meridian Road woman who was pepper sprayed.

The woman’s purse including several credit cards was taken in the Wednesday burglary at the woman’s home.

Shortly after the crime, police heard from several businesses in the township and Youngstown that the victim’s credit card was being used and a video camera at one of those businesses captured the man’s picture.

On Thursday, Youngstown police stopped a man that matched the description walking in the 100 block of South Meridian. The man, Charlie Carlisle III, 29, of Burkey Road, had items in his possession that were reported to have been taken in the burglary.

Carlisle was charged with receiving stolen property, and the aggravated burglary remains under investigation by both township and Youngstown police.
