Dilley was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, with a head injury. A hospital spokesman, however, said late Friday they had no such person listed in the medical facility.

Howland officials seek ban

HOWLAND — Township trustees want to ban bicycles, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and hover craft from township-owned property. Violators would be fined $250 for a first offense and $500 for a second. A public hearing on the proposal will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 22 in the administration building.

In other business at their Wednesday meeting, trustees hired two companies to handle this year’s leaf removal. Allied Waste Services of Youngstown will pick up leaves for a cost of $40,000, and Bob’s Tree Service of Warren will dispose of those leaves at a cost not to exceed $6,500.

Township Administrator Darlene St. George said that if 2,000 or more residents sign up for Howland’s recycling program, also provided by AWS, the company will waive its leaf pickup fee.

To sign up for curbside recycling, residents should call AWS directly, or pick up a mail-in application at the administration building.
