Small fire breaks out at vacant Campbell steel mill

CAMPBELL — Youngstown and Campbell fire departments responded to smoke billowing from the vacant Cold Metal Products building, 455 S. Montgomery, at 12:44 p.m. Thursday. A Campbell fire official said old machinery is being removed from the former steel mill to make room for future tenant Youngstown Pipe and Supply. It is believed a worker cut into an oil line with a saw, causing the oil to smolder, the official said. After employees left the building, the smoldering oil sparked a fire. No injuries were reported.
