GIRLS SOCCER

Mooney 8, Ursuline 0: STRUTHERS — Katie Griswold scored four goals with one assist to lead Cardinal Mooney (9-4-1, 3-0), which clinched the Steel Valley Conference championship outright at Valley Sports. Alex Sierra had two goals and two assists to also lead coach Jason Keller’s Cardinals, while Ashley Cuba and Cassie Trgovcich each added a goal. Ursuline (1-13-1, 0-3) goalie Briana Curd had 25 saves.

Canfield 2, Niles 1: CANFIELD — Michelle Gettemy and Rachel Morris scored goals for Canfield, and Molly Martins had an assist. Kelly Fening had four saves for the Cardinals. Carly Cicero scored Niles’ goal.

LaBrae 3, Bristol 2: BRISTOLVILLE — Amanda Rasmussen scored both of Bristol’s (2-10-3) goals in the first half. Freshman Gabby Borawiec scored two goals to tie the game halfway through the second half. LaBrae’s Katelyn Downey put in the game-winning goal on a corner kick for the Vikings (9-5-1).

Badger 5, Liberty 0: KINSMAN — Badger scored all five goals in the first half. Taylor Phillips scored twice for the Braves while Amelia Deraway, Shawna McNeely, and Kate Miller added one each. Amelia Deraway, Stacy Deraway, Shawna McNeely, and Alex McFarland had assists for Badger (7-6-2). Liberty goalkeeper Ellysi Raib had 12 saves. Kelsey Flowers and Megan Hunkus each had a save for for Badger.

JFK 1, Harding 1: WARREN — Sophomre Unique Hughley had the goal for Harding, before Kelly Guarnieri scored for JFK in the first half. Rachel Lamarco had the assist for the Raiders (5-7-3). Jerrica Cooper had the assist for JFK (8-6-1). Kelsey Case had eight saves for JFK, while Harding goalie Avrielle Merten had four saves. JVs: Howland 4, Harding 0

Newton Falls 3, Girard 0: NEWTON FALLS — Katie Lemasters scored all three goals for Newton Falls (11-4-1). She scored twice in the first half and once in the second. The Tigers had 19 shots on goal, while Girard made five. Rebecca Humberger had three saves for the Tigers and Mellisa Weitzman had eight for the Indians.

Maplewood 2, Pymatuning Valley 0: ANDOVER — Erica Pinko scored two goals, while Betsy Schwartz got an assist for the Rockets (12-1-2), who recorded their eighth shutout to clinch the NAC title. Ellie Engstrom had 11 saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Maplewood 3, Crestview 2: COLUMBIANA — Jason Pariden scored two goals and added an assist to lead Maplewood. Joshua Copeland also scored for Maplewood. Greg Bing and Justin Kleinknecht each had a goal for Crestwood, while Seth DuMoulin added an assist.

VOLLEYBALL

Lordstown 25-25-25, Mathews 18-12-15: LORDSTOWN — Lordstown improved to 20-2, 16-0 in the Northeast Athletic Conference behind Karly Gibbs whgo has 11 points, five aces, 12 digs and 11 kills, while Brianna Blodett addeed 14 points, 8 digs, five kills and four blocks. Whitney Blank added 12 points. Emily Pitzer led Mathews (13-5, 12-3) with 10 points and two aces, while Brittanee Moyer had four digs, Shawtil Dickeson eight kills and Rachel Agne six blocks.

Hubbard 25-25-25, Canfield 15-19-22: HUBBARD — Hubbard (19-1) was led by Jackie Carlisle with 21 kills and three blocks. Marcey Angelo added 11 points which three aces and 28 assists, while Dawn Lingerfelter had 19 digs, two aces and seven points. Canfield (15-7, 5-3) was led by Kalie Luklan with seven kills, two blocks and six digs and Abbey Malsch had six digs, five points and four aces. JVs: Canfield 15-12, 25-21.

Struthers 25-25-25-25, East 18-27-21-19: STRUTHERS — Senior setter Amy Wess had 10 points, six kills and 31 assists; sophomore setter Alyssa Olmi had five points and 19 assists and senior outside hitter Lauren Perry had six points, four kills and six digs for Struthers (8-14).

Howland 25-25-25, Liberty 16-17-19: HOWLAND — Kelly Barzak had 11 kills, four blocks, five digs and four aces; Nia Grant had 11 kills and three blocks; Elena Rounsley had 18 assists; D.J. Hromyak had seven digs and Stephanie Wiesniewski had eight service points for Howland. Ashlet Venable had seven kills, six service points and two aces; Chakieyla Merriweather has seven kills, eight digs and a block and Julie Aromatorio had 21 assists for Liberty. JVs: Liberty 2-1.

Mineral Ridge 13-25-25-30, Newton Falls 25-11-18-28: MINERAL RIDGE — Taylor Shiley had 19 points, six aces, 10 kills and five blocks to pace Mineral Ridge. (11-8). Abby Riffee chipped in with 15 points and 25 digs while Jessie Mowchen added nine kills, Katie Fife four blocks, Lea Whittmer 19 and Jenna Spackman 18 setting assists to aid the Rams. For Newton Falls (13-7), Ashley Walker had two aces and 23 digs, Kelsey McGregor 20 kills and eight blocks, Desting Prusky 12 points and Stephanie Blair 18 assists.

Warren JFK 25-19-25-20-15, East 19-25-16-25-11: YOUNGSTOWN — Alexandria Hines led East with 12 kills, four blocks and six aces in a Tuesday match. Bethany Hines had, three aces, four kills and 10 assists, Janess O’Kane had eight kills and two blocks. JVs: East 25-17, 25-22
