A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman:
POLAND
Oct. 4
Theft: A Boardman man reported the theft of a five-gallon bucket of salt guard from his pickup truck while in the 30 block of Poland Manor Drive.
Oct. 5
Domestic violence: A 44-year-old man was arrested at his Delaware Avenue home and charged after his wife alleged the man, during an argument about money, tossed a phone and struck her in the left arm. The accuser was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Arrest: A traffic stop near state Routes 170 and 616 led to the arrest of an 18-year-old New Castle, Pa., man after police learned he was wanted on a warrant from Ann Arbor, Mich., charging him with burglary.
BOARDMAN
Oct. 4
Attempted burglary: A Wilda Avenue man discovered someone tried to gain entry to his home via a rear door.
Drug paraphernalia: A 35-year-old East Palestine man faced charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to comply with police after officers found his vehicle in a ditch near Pinewood Lane. The man initially failed to stop, and a suspected crack pipe was found, the report said.
Assault: A Pittsburgh man told authorities two men struck him in the head with an undetermined object while in the 800 block of Boardman-Poland Road. The accuser had scrapes on his forehead and left hand.
Theft: A 47-year-old Canfield woman was charged, accused in the theft of $343 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Three Youngstown females, 13, 17 and 18, were charged after $55 worth of merchandise was stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: A Youngstown woman, 19, was charged in the theft of a pack of condoms from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Theft: Fourteen articles of clothing were stolen from the J.C. Penney store, resulting in a theft charge against a 47-year-old Boardman man.
Theft: A 44-year-old Boardman man was accused of stealing a coat from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall and charged.
Bad check: A man passed a bad $87 check at Tom Singer Custom Awards & Gifts, 5944 Market St.
Theft: Several people left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying a $50 food bill.
Criminal damaging: A Hermitage, Pa., man found four large dents in his car’s fender while at the Southern Park Mall. Damage came to about $1,000.
Domestic violence: A Niles man was charged after a Warren woman, while at a Locust Lane residence, alleged her intoxicated boyfriend grabbed her by the throat, continually pushed her into a couch and slammed her into a door and wall.
Theft: A Moyer Avenue man reported the theft of landscaping materials.
Theft: A girl, 17, and a 37-year-old woman, both of Youngstown, faced theft charges after being accused of taking 16 food items from Wal-Mart. The woman also was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child and drug abuse when, police said, a small bag of suspected marijuana was found.
Auto theft: A man reported his mother’s 1992 Cadillac DeVille stolen in the 50 block of Willow Drive.
Misuse of a credit card: A woman accidentally left her bank card in a Market Street automated-teller-machine and later found out someone had used it on two occasions to withdraw $60 and $100.
Oct. 5
Burglary: A Becky Court man reported two TVs and a laptop computer among the items missing after someone entered through the front door.
Theft: A Boardman woman’s wallet was stolen at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.
Theft: A license plate was stolen off a Market Street man’s vehicle.
Theft: A 48-year-old Boardman woman was accused in the theft of $50 worth of makeup from Wal-Mart, and faced a theft count.
Arrest: A Youngstown woman, 31, was taken into custody on Doral Drive. She was wanted on a warrant from Youngstown charging her with intimidation.
Assault: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road store told police a woman pushed a clothing rack at her and struck the accuser in the head. The employee had a cut.
Theft/criminal damaging: A man’s driver’s-side window was broken and a stereo was removed from his vehicle at a Boardman car dealership.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s windshield sustained $300 worth of damage after being damaged in the 7500 block of Market Street.
Oct. 6
Arrest: A Boardman woman, 19, was taken into custody on a warrant charging her with a probation violation after being pulled over on Market Street.
Assault: A Boardman man sustained bruises and swelling near his left eye after someone punched him in the mouth and head in the 4700 block of Simon Road.
Criminal damaging: A Green Glen Drive woman noticed a light broken off her lamp post.
Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a residence and vehicle in the 1300 block of Mere Court.
Theft: Two 32-inch TVs were stolen from Wal-Mart, costing the business $1,256.
Theft: A $500 diamond ring and $450 were among property stolen from a man’s apartment in the 300 block of Shields Road.
Oct. 7
Theft: Two Boardman women, 18 and 21, were charged in the theft of 12 articles of clothing from Wal-Mart.
Arrest: A man, 21, was picked up in the 100 block of Rockdale Avenue. He was wanted on a disorderly-conduct charge.
Theft: A woman’s cell phone was taken as she patronized a South Avenue restaurant.
Theft: Three 15-year-old Youngstown girls were charged after nearly $80 worth of merchandise was stolen from Wal-Mart.
Assault: A woman told officers her 17-year-old son was deliberately thrown to the ground during a soccer game at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave.
Theft: A woman’s wallet was stolen at a Doral Drive business.
Fraud: A Lealand Avenue woman reported having received a message stating she had a $500,000 check waiting for her, but discovered a likely money scam after sending $100 to someone in Jamaica.
Theft: An in-dash compact-disc player and a garage door opener were removed from a vehicle in the 6900 block of Tippecanoe Road.
