STAFF REPORT
YOUNGSTOWN — Police have charged Ronald Washington, 52, with felonious assault, unlawful restraint and domestic violence after an incident Tuesday night.
Washington, a resident of the 500 block of Sherwood Avenue, and a woman in his company were walking to Washington’s residence at 10:15 p.m. when met by two police officers, who were called to the area to investigate a fight.
The woman, whose age was not available on a police report, had a swollen bloody lip and a swollen black right eye, officers reported.
Washington and the woman were separated by officers, and she stated that she had been held against her will by Washington for three days.
She told police when she tried to leave Washington, he repeatedly kicked and punched her while she was on the ground.
It is unknown if the victim was living at the residence on Sherwood Avenue, but Washington told police she had been living there for several months.
The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for her injuries and when a report was filed by officers, she was in stable condition late Wednesday afternoon.
Washington was taken to Mahoning County Jail and arraigned on the charges Wednesday in municipal court.
