Corbin elected secretary of Catholic Charities USA board
The Youngstown man heads Catholic Charities Services in the Diocese of Youngstown.

YOUNGSTOWN — Catholic Charities USA’s board of trustees elected Brian R. Corbin, executive director of Catholic Charities Services and Health Affairs of the Diocese of Youngstown, to serve as its secretary. The new board leadership and other board members were named at Catholic Charities USA’s annual gathering Sept. 25-28 in New Orleans.
Corbin was appointed executive director of Catholic Charities Services and diocesan coordinator for Catholic Health Affairs for the Diocese of Youngstown in 2001. He also serves as the secretary-treasurer of the diocese’s Catholic Charities Corp., a member corporation of regional social service agencies and housing corporations serving the diocese.
He is secretary of the St. Joseph Care Center Corporation in Louisville, chairs the Diocesan Commission on Health and Human Services and is the liaison with the St. Vincent De Paul Societies operating in the diocese.
Corbin serves on the Ethics and Community Benefits committees of Humility of Mary Health Partners board. He acts as the diocesan director of Catholic Relief Services, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Migration and Refugee Services.
As secretary, Corbin will serve on the National Catholic Charities USA executive committee, besides serving as chairman of the Task Force on Catholic Identity. Corbin also serves as chairman of the editorial board of the Catholic Charities USA 100th Anniversary History Committee.
Corbin is an adjunct faculty member of Walsh University in North Canton, where he teaches business ethics/social responsibility in the School for Professional Studies and the MBA programs of the School of Business. He also serves on the faculty of the Catholic Studies Program, teaching courses in social doctrine and bioethics in the Department of Theology.
In 2003, Corbin chaired the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ National Advisory Council. He has published several academic, Catholic and secular articles on Catholic social doctrine and political economy and has produced numerous television and radio programs.
Corbin and his wife, Dr. Donna DeBlasio, live in Youngstown.
