NEOUCOM seeks women for training
ROOTSTOWN — The Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy (NEOUCOM) is looking for women who want to serve as Gynecological Teaching Associates.
These paraprofessionals are specially trained to understand and to teach essential components of a safe, thorough and comfortable female pelvic exam.
NEOUCOM provides training to prepare them to conduct teaching sessions.
“Serving as a gynecological teaching associate offers a unique and important way to influence health care in a positive way,” said Holly Gerzina, executive director of the William G. Wasson, M.D., Center for Clinical Skills Training, Assessment and Scholarship. “GTAs help our students to develop vitally important skills.”
Participants need to have flexible schedules, enjoy working with others and have good memories for details. They are compensated for training upon completion and for teaching sessions. The training is offered at the Wasson center at the Rootstown campus, 4209 state Route 44.
The need for GTAs is occasional and times for training and activities vary throughout the academic year. However, most activities take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. GTAs teach students at hospitals in Akron, Canton and Youngstown and the Rootstown campus.
While the colleges are specifically seeking GTAs, there are other patient simulation opportunities. For more information, please contact Michele Rosenberger at (330) 325-6747 or (800) 686-2511, ext. 6747, or visit http://www.neoucom.edu/audience/about/institutes/wccs/Patients.
