Have you noticed? The Howland girls have 10 shutouts in 14 games and have out-goaled their opponents, 34-5. The Tigers have clinched the AAC Red championship and the Champion girls clinched the AAC Blue crown. The Cardinal Mooney boys are undefeated at home again. The Springfield girls have a balanced attack with several players scoring frequently. The boys at South Range (11-1-2) and Liberty (9-3) are likely having the best seasons in school history.

Tournament begins: Sectional soccer tournaments begin in a week. Don’t forget to report your scores and highlights right after the games to sports@vindy.com. A tournament preview story will be published Sunday.

Games of the week: Tuesday, Mooney boys at CVCA, 7 p.m. (both teams have been in the state’s Div. II top five all season); Wednesday, Boardman girls at Fitch, 7 p.m. (Fitch is 6-0 in the Federal League and the Spartans are 4-1-1.); Thursday, Howland girls at Poland, 7 p.m. (The Tigers are dreaming of an undefeated season), and Ursuline boys vs. Cardinal Mooney at Valley Sports, 7 p.m. (Final Steel Valley Conference game.); Saturday, Lakeview boys at Hubbard, 7 p.m. (The Bulldogs can’t be dismissed.)
