Ohio’s minimum wage to increase in January
COLUMBUS — Ohio’s minimum wage will increase Jan. 1 to $7.30 an hour for nontipped employees and to $3.65 an hour for tipped employees, plus tips. The current minimum wage is $7 an hour for nontipped employees and $3.50 an hour for tipped employees.
The increased wage applies to employers who have gross sales of more than $267,000 a year. The constitutional amendment passed by voters in 2006 calls for the minimum wage to increase each Jan. 1 by the rate of inflation. The increase is tied to the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers for the 12-month period before September.
