Howland fall pickup

HOWLAND — The fall pickup of limbs and branches in the township will be split into two zones.

Pickup for residents on the township’s east side — the area east of Mosquito Creek — will begin Oct. 20, and pickup for the township’s west side — all streets off and including North Road — will start Nov. 3.

Residents looking to rid their lawns of bush and tree debris must place the piles at the edge of their property with the cut ends facing the street. Only branches up to 6 inches in diameter, in piles no larger than 4- by 8-feet, will be accepted.

The township will not collect firewood, including large logs or complete trees. The use of commercial removal services are suggested in those cases.

Liberty senior watch

LIBERTY — An open house introducing the township’s new senior watch program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22 at the township government center on Churchill-Hubbard Road.

Township officials will also be on hand to explain the new program. Many area agencies will hand out information to those interested.

Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (330) 759-1315.
