YOUNGSTOWN — A city man was arrested after being accused of setting $900 worth of clothes on fire.
Police said they were called to a home on Pointview Avenue on Sunday morning after an argument between Jonathon Martin, 21, and a female prompted Martin to set fire to $900 in clothing and shoes, as well as $170 cash and a purse that contained her driver’s license and credit cards.
Police said both the female and suspect smelled of alcohol and were acting as if they were intoxicated.
Martin was arrested and given a court summons in lieu of being booked and processed at Mahoning County Jail.

HUBBARD — The monthly meeting of the Eagle Joint Fire District will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hubbard Township Government Offices on Elmwood Drive Extension.
Open house, health fair
HOWLAND — The Howland Fire Department is having an open house and health fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the station.
There will be activities for children and adults, including a car-seat inspection, bike rodeo and fire safety trailer and safety vehicle displays. Health providers will also be represented.

1983 attack anniversary
STRUTHERS — A memorial service commemorating the 25th anniversary of the terrorist bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, in which three area men were killed, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Beirut Memorial on Poland Avenue (state Route 616) by Hamilton Lake.
The service will be conducted by the Tri-State Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
In the attack, 241 Marines, sailors and soldiers were killed, including 14 from Ohio. Three area residents killed were: Marine Lance Corporals Edward Johnston of Struthers and Stanley Sliwinski of Niles, and Sgt. James McDonough of New Castle, Pa.
The bombing took place in the early hours of Oct. 23, 1983.
Christmas gift sign-up
WARREN — The Catholic Charities Regional Agency will have its annual Christmas gift sign-up the week of Oct. 20.
No walk-ins will be accepted. Children up to age 18, if still in school, are eligible for gifts.
