State wants to hear from arts community

The Ohio Arts Council is visiting cities statewide to find out what Ohioans value about the arts, creativity and their communities.

“The Ohio Arts Council would like to hear from Ohio’s citizens in order to improve the way we serve Ohio,” said OAC Executive Director Julie Henahan. “The listening tour provides an outlet for Ohioans to tell us how they think the arts and creativity can be a bigger part of their community.”

A small group of OAC staffers will lead three meetings in each town to discuss the arts, creativity and aspirations for the residents’ communities.

The tour visits Youngstown Oct. 16. Meetings will be at 8 a.m. for elected officials and members of the business community; 4 p.m. for artists, arts administrators and arts educators; and 7 p.m. for the public. All meetings will be at DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St., and will last 90 minutes. To register for the meetings, go to oac.state.oh.us.
