North Dakota St. 35, Southern Illinois 27

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State rallied from 20 points down with a dominating second half to beat the Salukis in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Bison (3-2, 1-1) were led on offense by rugged running back Tyler Roehl, who rushed 26 times for 125 yards and caught three passes for 34 yards. The result spoiled a return trip to the state for former University of North Dakota head coach Dale Lennon, who took over the Southern Illinois program this year. The Salukis (2-2, 1-1) rolled to a 20-0 lead late in the first half and then self-destructed.

McNeese St. 46, S. Dakota St. 44, 3 OT

BROOKINGS, S.D. — McNeese State stopped JaRon Harris on a two-point conversion run in the third overtime for the Cowboys. McNeese State (3-1) opened the third overtime with a 14-yard touchdown run by Todd Pendland and a PAT run by quarterback Derrick Fourrou. After Kyle Minett scored on a 2-yard run for the Jackrabbits (3-3), the Cowboys came up with the stop of Harris, who led SDSU in receiving with 176 yards and three touchdowns on six catches. Fourrou rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns. He also completed 24 of 28 passes for 297 yards and two scores. Fourrou scored on a 1-yard run in the first overtime and a 5-yard run in the second. He also scored on a 16-yard run in the second quarter. Pendland ran 16 times for 99 yards and caught six passes for 111 yards. That included a 10-yard TD catch in the first quarter. SDSU’s Ryan Berry passed for 317 yards and four touchdowns, including an 8-yarder to Minett in the first overtime and a 25-yarder to Harris in the second. Harris also had TD catches of 79 and 7 yards. McNeese State piled up 574 yards of offense, while SDSU finished with 412. SDSU’s Derek Domino returned an interception 82 yards for a touchdown to open the game.

Western Illinois 33, Missouri St. 21

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Herb Donaldson scored four touchdowns and rushed for 273 yards to lead Western Illinois. Western Illinois (3-2, 1-1 Missouri Valley Conference) scored three times in the first half and held off a second-half rally by Missouri State (1-3, 0-1) before pulling away.

Illinois St. 57, Indiana St. 6

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Geno Blow and Walter Mendenhall each ran for more than 100 yards and scored two touchdowns apiece, leading Illinois State. The Redbirds (2-2, 1-0 Missouri Valley) gave up an early field goal by Corey Varnadore but took the lead on the first touchdown run by Blow and controlled the rest of the game. It was the 19th straight loss since 2006 for the Sycamores (0-5, 0-1). Illinois State scored on five of its first six possessions, including a 16-yard pass from Kevin Brockway to Garin Harcar for a 14-3 lead after the first quarter. Indiana State managed only one more field goal, a 44-yarder by Braulio Martinez with 2 seconds left in the first half, and was shut out in the final two periods.
