The following bridges are included:

Netcher Road Bridge: This “Neo Victorian” bridge stretches 110 feet across Mill Creek in Jefferson Township. It was built during the late 1990s.

South Denmark Road Bridge: Built in 1890, this town lattice bridge also spans Mill Creek in Jefferson.

Caine Road Bridge: This bridge completed in 1986 in honor of Ashtabula County’s 175th anniversary. It is 124 feet long and stretches across a branch of the Ashtabula River in Pierpont Township.

Graham Road Bridge: This bridge was built from remnants of a bridge that was washed away in a 1913 flood. It’s located in Pierpont.

Root Road Bridge: This 114-foot bridge was built in 1868 and crosses the Ashtabula River.

Middle Road Bridge: This bridge was completed in 1868 and reconstructed in 1984. It crosses Conneaut Creek.

State Road Bridge: Built in 1983 across Conneaut Creek, this 152-foot bridge contains 97,000 feet of southern pine and oak.

Creek Road Bridge: This bridge was renovated in 1994. Its original construction date is unknown.

Benetka Road Bridge: Built in 1900 across the Ashtabula River, the Benetka Road Bridge measures 138 feet.

Olin Bridge: This bridge was named for the Olins, a family who have owned property next to the bridge since it was built in 1873. It measures 115 feet and spans the Ashtabula River.

Giddings Road Bridge: This 107-foot bridge was completed in 1995 with funding from ODOT. It crosses Mill Creek in Jefferson Township.

Smolen-Gulf Bridge: The longest covered bridge in America was completed in August and stretches 613 feet across the Ashtabula River in Plymouth Township.

The following bridges are included:

Doyle Road Bridge: Built in 1868, this 94-foot-long bridge spans Mill Creek in Jefferson.

Harpersfield Bridge: This bridge stretches 228 feet across the Grand River and was built in 1868. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was formerly the longest covered bridge in Ohio (before the Smolen-Gulf Bridge). It is located next to a county metro park that is a popular place for picnics.

Mechanicsville Road Bridge: Completed in 1867 across the Grand River, this bridge is believed to be the oldest in Ashtabula County.

Riverdale Road Bridge: Finished in 1874, this bridge stretches 114 feet across the Grand River.

Windsor Mills Bridge: This bridge spans Phelps Creek, a tributary of the Grand River, and is located in a very picturesque setting. It was built in 1867 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

HOW TO GET THERE

Directions from Youngstown to Smolen-Gulf Bridge: To get to the Smolen-Gulf Bridge from the Youngstown area, take Route 11 north to the state Route 84 exit. Turn left onto 84, and at the first stop sign make another left. This road will take you directly to the bridge.
