Mount Union 48, Baldwin-Wallace 3
BEREA, Ohio — Mount Union College senior Nate Kmic had four rushing touchdowns as part of a 27 carry, 218-yard performance to become the NCAA Division III career leader in points (570) and total touchdowns (95) and tie the record for rushing touchdowns (91) in the Ohio Athletic Conference game. Kmic moved up to No. 5 on the NCAA Division III career rushing list as he has 6,003 yards on 911 carries. R.J. Bowers of Grove City (PA) College (1997-2000) holds the all-time mark with 7,353 yards and it was his points (562), total touchdowns (92) and rushing touchdowns (91) that Kmic has tied or surpassed. After missing on his first two pass attempts, senior quarterback Greg Micheli completed 13 of his next 14 pass attempts for 275 yards and three touchdown passes all to junior wide receiver Cecil Shorts III who had a career-best 158 yards receiving on six catches. Mount Union racked up a season-high 648 yards of offense, including 357 yards rushing, while the defense held Baldwin-Wallace, which was averaging 491 yards per game heading into the contest, to 172 total yards, with six quarterback sacks and three forced fumbles.
Malone 45, Marian (Ind.) 37
CANTON — Malone wideout Josh Settlemire (Howland) tied a school record with 13 receptions, scoring three touchdowns and gaining 179 yards as the Pioneers (2-1, 1-0) held off visiting Marian at Fawcett Stadium. Quarterback Billy Bob Orsagh set a school record with six touchdown passes, completing 31 of 41 attempts for 353 yards and an interception. His last three went to Settlemire, including a 19-yarder with 1:17 left in the fourth that made it 45-30.
Grove City 27, Saint Vincent 12
LATROBE, Pa. — The Grove City defense forced three turnovers, scored a touchdown and held host Saint Vincent to just 56 rushing yards in a clash of Presidents’ Athletic Conference members. Senior tailback Brian Mercer ran for 118 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries for Grove City (3-2). He also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Andrew DiDonato in the third quarter that gave Grove City a 19-3 lead. Stephen Mercer (Beaver Local) caught five passes for 50 yards. Freshman weakside linebacker Jason Ferguson (Mineral Ridge) recorded eight tackles, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. Junior safety Vance Keirsey (Mineral Ridge) forced a fumble.
Indiana (Pa.) 23, Slippery Rock 16, 2 OT
INDIANA, Pa. — Andrew Krewatch threw a last-minute touchdown pass to tie the game and another in the second overtime as Indiana, Pa. beat Slippery Rock. Krewatch completed 25 of 36 passes for 211 yards for No. 19 Indiana (4-1, 2-1 PSAC-West), but was kept off the scoreboard until he threw 2 yards to Cameron Mobley to make the score 16-16 with 22 seconds remaining. Slippery Rock (3-3, 1-2) kicker C.J. Bahr and Indiana’s Craig Burgess both missed field goals in the first overtime before Krewatch threw 7 yards to Garrett Lestochi to give Indiana a 23-16 lead in the second overtime.
Wittenberg 44, Hiram 7
HIRAM — Matt Brumfield completed 14 of 23 passes for a game-high 243 yards, two TDs and three interceptions for Wittenberg (3-1, 2-0 NCAC). Trevor Luckenbill led all running backs with 74 yards on 23 carries and a TD. Wide receiver Josh McKee caught eight passes for a game-high 177 yards and a TD. Defensively, Zach Hurtt tallied a game-best 13 tackles including a sack and a fumble recovery. Brad McKinley added 11 tackles. Hiram (2-2, 1-1) was led by junior Lee Sham (Kennedy Catholic) who completed 14-of-22 passes for 97 yards.
Thomas More 42, Bethany 12
BETHANY, W.Va. — Anthony Knott rushed for 110 yards and Cordario Collier added 92 for Thomas More (3-1, 3-0). Bethany’s Matt Cruse broke a school record with his 19th career TD reception, while Taylor McNeil’s 13 receptions tied a single-game mark for the Bison (1-3, 0-2).
Wabash 48, Allegheny 7
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Matt Hudson completed 13 of 21 passes for 221 yards and two TDs to lead No. 7 Wabash (4-0, 3-0 NCAC). Wabash (2-2, 1-1) avoided its first shutout since 2003 with an 11-yard touchdown strike from David Strawser to Matt Griffith with 5:34 remaining in the game.
St. Xavier 23, Walsh 7
CHICAGO — Senior quarterback Jeremy Zientek led Saint Xavier (3-2, 1-0 MSFA) by completing 34 of his 49 pass attempts for 323 yards and two touchdowns. Walsh (1-4, 0-1) scored on a 4-yard reception by junior wideout Matt McGill with three seconds on the clock.
