Mooney 5, Warren JFK 0

STRUTHERS — Joe Merlo had two goals and an assist to lead Mooney. James Simon added a goal and an assist for the Cardinals (10-2), who are ranked third in the state in Div. II. Hector Hernandez and Matt McWilson also had goal and Chris Felker and Leo Hicks had assists. Brandon Fotiuk made three saves for Mooney, which plays top-ranked Columbus DeSales on Saturday and second-ranked CVCA Tuesday. Jeff Follmeyer had two saves and Mike Fredericka eight for JFK (9-4-1).

Ursuline 5, Warren Harding 0

YOUNGSTOWN — Kevin Patrick scored three goals for the Irish (7-3-4, 1-1 SVC). Benny Naples and Marshall Finelli scored the other goals. Patrick had two assists while John Buckley and Cory Coffey also had assists. Goalkeeper Andrew Rich made six saves. For Harding, Ryan Burk made nine saves.

Howland 5, Fitch 3

AUSTINTOWN — Scott Heineman, Eric Albani and Anthony Russo each had a goal and an assist and Howland rallied from a 3-2 deficit with three second-half goals. Ryan Gerin, Eric Albani and Connor Gilmour also scored and Cody Johnson had an assist for the Tigers, who got three saves from Dan Miller. Nick Bowlen scored twice and Anthony Savko added the other goal for Fitch, while Chris Colaluca and Brandon Jankowski had assists. Chris Platton made three saves. JVs: Howland 4-0.

Heartland Christian 5, South Range 4

NORTH LIMA — Treg Lunger scored two goals, Owen Stryffler, Justin Storm and Kyle Knepper each had one as the Lions (8-4) rallied for four goals in the second half to prevail. Alex Baker scored three goals for the Raiders (10-2-2) and Andrew Edwards added one. Jordan Baker and Andy Lacefield each had an assist and goalkeeper Luke Yeagley had 13 saves.

West Branch 3, Salem 0

BELOIT — Caleb Capron had a goal and an assist, while Josh Latham and Aaron Lamancusa added goals and Matthew Frankhouser had an assist for West Branch (12-1). Chance Young had five saves. JVs: West Branch 1-0.

GIRLS

Howland 2, Niles 0

HOWLAND — Junior forward Jessica Wilson had her fourth goal of the season and senior forward Abby Nicholas tallied her fifth goal of the season in the first half for Howland (11-0-2, 4-0-1 AAC Red Division). Coupled with Canfield’s loss, Howland clinched the AAC Red with 13 points. Gina Albani and Gina Wall assisted on Wilson’s goal, while Jessica Prokup assisted on Nicholas’ goal. Niles goalie Sarah Scarnecchia had nine saves before leaving with an injury and senior Aleisha Sharpe took over to add three saves for the Red Dragons. Howland’s senior goalie, Casey Haering, had five stops. Niles is 7-5-1 (0-5-0 AAC). JVs: Howland, 5-0.

Poland 3, Canfield 1

CANFIELD — Abby Chandler, Vivien Clayton and Jordan Palumbo had goals for Poland, while Samantha Robertson, Taylor Marucci and Tatum Marucci added assists. Stephanie Ciccone had two saves for the Bulldogs (8-5, 3-2 AAC Red), which held a 12-3 edge in shots. Audrey Smith scored for Canfield and Anokha Padubidri had four saves. JVs: Canfield 1-0.

Lakeview 7, Struthers 0

Kaitlynn Tonkovich, Nicole Moldovon, Chelsea Baker, Marissa Capogreco, Lindsey Clark, Jen Ulam and Kylie Mathews scored for Lakeview (5-4-5), which got assists from Laura Griffith, Allie Gagne, Caitlyn Yocum, Julie Bevilacqua and Baker. Ulam had one save and Courtney Nichols two for Lakeview.

LaBrae 2, Liberty 1

LEAVITTSBURG — Gabby Borawiec and Julie Gibson scored for the Vikings (8-5-1, 5-3 AAC White). Gibson assisted on Borawiec’s goal. Goalkeeper Kelsie Daniel made seven saves. For Liberty, Courtney Kutsch scored and Elysa Raib made 12 saves.

Champion 2, Newton Falls 1

CHAMPION — Heather Beachy scored the winning goal with 20 minutes remaining in the second half as the Golden Flashes (10-3-2, 7-0 AAC Blue) clinched the league title. Blain Chapman gave the Tigers (9-4-1, 4-3) a 1-0 lead when she scored five minutes into the contest. Katelyn Moore then scored a goal for Champion to tie it with 12 minutes left in the half. Morgan White and Morgan Loychak each had assist for the winners. Champion had 12 shots on goal and Newton Falls (9-4-1, 4-3) had four. Goalkeeper Taylor Petersal had four saves for the Golden Flashes and Rebecca Humberger had 10 for the Tigers. JVs: Champion 7-0.

Springfield 4, Youngstown Christian 0

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Alexis Zubick had two goals while Breanne Mincher and Ashlyn Italiano had one apiece for Springfield (11-2). Allyson Berry had two assists while Mincher and Aubrey Bullen had one assist apiece for the Tigers. Youngstown Christian (2-8-4) goalkeeper Kaitlyn Vestal made 25 saves while Heather Cozak made 14 stops for Springfield.
