Vandals damage windows, doors

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — City police were kept busy Tuesday with a rash of calls about vandalism.

From around 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., police were told of damage to cars and buildings. Neshannock Township also reported calls, police noted.

A woman reported noticing around 5 a.m. that the driver’s side window of her car was damaged on North Mercer Street.

A van window was reported shot out at Anderson Tools on Sampson Street at 8:18 a.m.

At 9:38 a.m., Triple S Auto Sales on Neil Street reported a car window there had been shot out.

At 10:45 a.m., the Superior Motorsport car dealership on Highland Avenue reported three cars damaged by a pellet gun.

At noon, Castleton Beauty Salon on North Mercer Street reported its building was hit by a pellet gun.

At 2:43 p.m., the owner of properties at Washington Center, Mill Street, Grove Street and Washington Street reported damage to windows and doors. Those properties included the First Merit Bank on Mill Street, the Lockley Building on Grove Street and the old Troutman Building on Washington Street.

At 6 p.m., police received a report of damage to the back doors at the Wasilewski Market on South Jefferson Street. The market is closed and the building is for sale.
