Didn’t Ohioans vote against casinos? Why then did the government impose keno without us voting?

Looks like Gov. Strickland does whatever he wants; yet he still has a Republicans appointed to the Bureau of Workers Compensation in Columbus.

Now Bush is going to push through a bail out of the financial market. Why doesn’t he impose a regulated ceiling on mortgage brokers, car loans, credit card companies and gasoline? How can you bail out Fannie Mae when the CEO got $20 million in bonuses?

Shame on anyone who voted against gambling for playing keno — or any lottery games. I would like to see an article written by The Vindicator on any changes that have happened in Erie, Pa., since their casino opened. I know I have spent the gas money to go there and also spent some of my Ohio money in West Virginia.

The country is in trouble. Remember that when you vote this year. It’s time to change the way we vote. Understand the candidates, understand the parties and vote for what will make your life better.

On a positive note, I recently attended a function in downtown Youngstown and had dinner prior to the play. What a great evening it was. Youngstown is on the mend. Drive down and see for yourself.

Press should take a stand on Sarah Palin’s silence

EDITOR:

Ever since Sen. John McCain was forced to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate, she’s been sheltered from the press like a tomato plant put in the ground too early in the spring.

Amazingly, the media let the Bush, Rove and McCain campaign advisors get away with it in the beginning. Palin was allowed to give the same campaign speech again and again telling infatuated, celebrity loving Republican audiences the same lies again and again, specifically about the infamous Alaska Bridge to Nowhere.

The tide began to turn when Palin was “allowed” to be interviewed by ABC news and she came across like a moose caught in the headlights. It could have been a skit on “Saturday Night Live” but for the fact McCain wants to put our nation in Gov. Palin’s unqualified hands. That’s not funny. It’s dangerous and sickening.

The press finally showed some long overdue guts during Palin’s visit to the United Nations on Monday. As usual, the McCain campaign didn’t want to “expose” Palin to questions but CNN threatened to pull out its cameras. Only then did the McCain people allow a few seconds of conversation to be recorded. It was described as small talk. Shocker. Are they kidding us? I answered more questions when I ran for precinct committee person than Mrs. Palin has thus far. Can you imagine the whining from the political right if Sen. Obama was doing this with his VP pick?

I have a suggestion for the media, including your paper. If the McCain campaign continues to keep Palin in the closet, stop reporting anything she says or does. She doesn’t deserve that respect because the McCain campaign has shown they have zero respect for the American electorate.

Straight talker McCain keeps insisting that Palin is ready to become president at a moment’s notice. Capable of becoming president? She’s not even capable of answering relevant questions.
