Forum Health, SEIU have tentative 3-year contract
YOUNGSTOWN — Forum Health and Service Employees International Union District 1199 have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract. The agreement occurred late Tuesday before the midnight expiration of the current contract.
SEIU District 1199, which represents about 1,400 service workers and technicians at Northside Medical Center and Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, has not set a date for a ratification vote.
On Sept. 3, members of Ohio Nurses Association Youngstown General Duty Nurses Association at Northside ratified a new three-year work agreement with Forum. Details of that contract have not been made public.
DHL decision to drop ABX puts 7,500 jobs at risk
WILMINGTON, Ohio — Cargo carrier ABX Air and 7,500 of its workers are waiting to hear their fate.
DHL plans to hire United Parcel Service to replace ABX Air and ASTAR Air Cargo in transporting DHL packages. The proposal would mean much of the work normally handled at Wilmington Air Park in this southwest Ohio city would be transferred to a UPS facility in Louisville, Ky.
ABX will survive if the switch happens, but the real victims will be thousands of workers who will see their jobs evaporate and their safety net of benefits disappear, ABX President John Graber said in an interview with The Associated Press.
