MVSD borrows to fund improvements


MINERAL RIDGE — The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has provided a $1.69 million loan to the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District .

The money will be used to upgrade the districts chemical softening, settling and recarbonation facilities. The existing water purification and pumping works, built in 1932, provides drinking water to Youngstown, Niles and McDonald. The loan carries a 3.2 percent interest rate.
