Poland girls race to AAC Red title
Jackson-Milton’s Samantha Hamilton won the ITCL race.
SALEM — Anna Pompeo took first place in 19 minutes, 59 seconds, leading the Poland High girls cross county team to the All-American Conference Red Tier championship with 23 points Tuesday at the Memorial Park course.
Canfield was second with 39 and Howland was third with 71.
Led by Lauren Shivers (19:45), Salem won the White Tier crown with 23 points.
Struthers was second with 35 and Lakeview third with 66.
Girard’s Ashley Mylar (21:36) won individual honors leading the Indians to the Blue Division title with 25 points.
Brookfield was second with 41 and LaBrae third with 61.
Aaron Sutton (16:51) of Howland took first place in the boys run, but Poland was team champ with 26 points.
Canfield was second with 39, Howland third with 66 and Niles fourth with 114.
Tyler Ames (16:29) of Lakeview won individual honors in the boys White run as the Bulldogs won the title with 19 points.
Salem was second with 55, Struthers third with 61, Hubbard fourth with 116 and Liberty fifth with 148.
Dan Johntony (18:51) took first place in the Blue Division to lead Girard to the title with 19 points. Champion was second with 42.

McDONALD — Samantha Hamilton of Jackson-Milton took first place in the girls 5000-meter run in 19 minutes, 22 seconds, at the Inter-Tri-County League championship at Woodland Park.
Columbiana captured the team title with 58 points and United was second with 60.
Lowellville’s Monica Ciarniello (19:58) finished second, Columbiana’s Stephanie Case (20:44) was third, East Palestine’s Leighann Kelvington (21:20) was fourth and Columbiana’s Alyssa Mellott (21:27) was fifth.
David Chick of East Palestine won the boys run (17:09), but McDonald took the team crown with 27 points. South Range placed second with 62.
McDonald’s Lance Ronghi (17:25) was second, Southern’s Jared Sevek (17:32) was third, Leetonia’s Nathan Grimm (17:38) was fourth and McDonald’s Jeff Kunkle (17:40) was fifth.
