Newton Township pedestrian, 92, killed

NEWTON FALLS — Police say a 92-year-old Newton Township man made it only halfway across one lane of traffic in front of his house Tuesday morning before being struck and killed by a passing motorist.
Sgt. Jeffrey Klem of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Andrew Jacob of state Route 534 was crossing the street on his way to his mailbox when the accident occurred.
Jacob was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
The driver of the car, Marion R. Coleman, 30, of Chester, W.Va., was driving his 1999 Saturn north when the accident occurred.
The state patrol’s investigation continues.
