Few problems as Mahoning Avenue work continues
AUSTINTOWN— On day No. 2 of the $2.5 million Mahoning Avenue repaving project, officials reported things are going well.
Bill Gibson, of the county engineer’s office, said as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday he had received no calls about major traffic jams on Mahoning Avenue.
“I’m sure there have been some disgruntled people, but they haven’t called here,” he said. “So far so good.”
Township Administrator Michael Dockery said since the project began yesterday, he’s only received one complaint of backed up traffic.
Mahoning Avenue is down from five lanes to one lane in each direction east of state Route 11, and motorists are advised to take other routes if possible.
