CITY SIDEWALKS: The Saturday after Thanksgiving in 1956 found little room to spare on downtown Youngstown’s sidewalks. Shoppers — sometimes entire families of them — descended on the business district. This shot taken by Lloyd S. Jones from just east of the Paramount Theater and McKelvey’s department store shows the crowds, the traffic and the candy canes and garland that combined to give Federal Street a holiday air.
