The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees and President David C. Sweet jointly developed a list of goals and institutional plans for this fiscal year as part of the board’s evaluation of the president. Among other things, that list includes:

Develop responses to the state Strategic Plan for Higher Education, which includes enrollment and tuition projections.

A determination of how YSU will fit into that plan and on what Centers of Excellence the university should focus as part of that plan.

Work to assure that the upcoming community college initiative implementation succeeds but that it does no harm to the university.

Work with local health-field leaders to strengthen links with the Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Valley hospital systems.

Have the president become more visible on campus to students.

Have the president make concerted efforts to interact with faculty and staff members to hear and address concerns.

Begin planning and development of a new campus strategic plan to succeed the Centennial Strategic Plan.

Continue to implement the Centennial Master Plan, including construction of the new Williamson College of Business Administration and developing plans for a new building for the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Develop a plan to revise the university’s tuition and fees structure in view of changes in the state funding formula.
