MERCER COUNTY Sentencings


These people were sentenced recently in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. According to court documents:

Carmen Dinardo IV, 32, of Liberty Street, Sharon, sentenced to 111‚Ñ2 to 23 months in jail followed by three years’ probation for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a felony. Dinardo sold 2.3 grams of morphine to another person Jan. 28, 2008, at a Water Street, Sharon address.

Richard Grimm, 42, of North Keep Ridge Road, Hermitage, placed on three years’ probation for felony receiving stolen property. He had two stolen chain saws, a saber saw, weed cutter and a rifle at a Valley View Road, Hermitage address in March and April 2008.

Anthony Kuchmak Jr., 29, of East Connelly Boulevard, Sharon, sentenced to 11 1‚Ñ2 to 23 months in jail for possession with intent to deliver, a felony. On March 16, 2006, he possessed 23.2 grams of marijuana at an Orangeville Road, Hermitage address.

Drew Ries, 21, of State Street, Grove City, was sentenced to five months to two years for misdemeanor simple assault. He was given credit for 157 days already served and paroled. On June 18, he choked another man, slammed his head into a wall, closed a door into his head and tried to pepper spray him at a Garden Avenue, Grove City address.

Tyrust Taranto, 25, of Mercer Road, Mercer was sentenced to nine months to two years in jail followed by three years’ probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. He stole a money bag from Cianci’s Center, 40 Williamson Road, Hempfield Township on Sept. 24, 2007. The bag contained $700 in cash and $2,759 in checks.

William Boozer, 20, of Perry Highway, Hadley, resentenced to one to two years in prison for possession with intent to manufacture, a felony. He was sentenced in November 2007 to two years’ probation for possessing three marijuana plants at his home in April 2007. His probation was revoked because he violated its terms by being prosecuted for new criminal charges, which were not available at press time.

John Gallagher, 49, of Ohle Road, Clarks Mills, sentenced to 91 days to one year in jail followed by one year’s probation for one consolidated count of misdemeanor theft by deception. He was ordered to make restitution. On April 14 this year at the Grove City Country Fair, 228 W. Main St., Grove City, he gave the impression that he had a newly activated gift card for $100 although he had not paid for the card.

George Geist, 22, of Golden Drive, Meadville, sentenced to six to 18 months in jail and ordered to make restitution for receiving stolen property, a felony. In May this year, he was apprehended with 900 pounds of carbide steel valued at $11,000 that belonged to a Hermitage business.

Cheryl George, 47, of North Perry Highway, Mercer, placed on 18 months’ probation for criminal conspiracy to commit access device fraud, a felony. In November and December 2007, she conspired with a man to use a credit card issued to another woman without authorization to charge $14,357 worth of goods and services in Jackson Township.

Russell Hamilton, 22, of Cedar Avenue, Grove City, sentenced to one to two years in jail and ordered to make restitution for possession with intent to deliver, a felony. On April 3 this year, he had 20 OxyContin pills in Grove City.

William Hopkins, 26, of Barkeyville Road, Grove City, placed on 18 months’ probation, ordered to perform 25 hours of community service and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. On April 9 this year, he took a purse from a woman at a Grove City address. It contained $315 and two prescription medications.

Lisa Love, 30, of North Perry Highway, Mercer, sentenced to six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program and ordered to perform 25 hours of community service for theft of services, a misdemeanor. From June to August 2007, she illegally obtained $253 worth of electricity from Penn Power after removing a blocking device the power company had placed on her meter.

Timothy Metheney, 34, of North Liberty Road, Grove City, placed on one year’s probation and ordered to perform five hours of community service and make restitution for unauthorized use of an automobile, a misdemeanor. On July 11, 2007, he operated a vehicle on North Liberty Road, Pine Township, without the owner’s consent.

Brian Mills, 48, of North Railroad Avenue, Sharon, sentenced to 30 to 60 days in jail and given credit for 60 days for retail theft, a misdemeanor, for stealing a $9 hair-cutting kit May 10 from Family Dollar, 100 S. Water St., Sharon.

Lisa Perilli, 37, of Dutch Lane, Hermitage, placed on one year’s probation and ordered to perform 20 hours of community service and make restitution for misdemeanor retail theft. She stole $50 worth of personal care items, a candle and a container Jan. 12 from Rite Aid, 1851 E. State St., Hermitage.

Chad Hanley, 28, of 3563 N. Hermitage Road, Transfer, sentenced to 1 1‚Ñ2 to five years in prison for felony delivery of cocaine and false reports to law enforcement. On Nov. 24, 2007, he possessed the cocaine at a Farrell address and, when apprehended, gave a false name and birth date to police.

Lawrence Ali, 31, of North Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, resentenced to one to three years in prison and ordered to make restitution for robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, both felonies. He was placed on probation for the offenses in 2004 but violated his probation by failing to pay his fine, costs and restitution, moving out of state and failing to maintain contact with his parole officer.

Timothy Alter, 29, of Shenango Park Road, Transfer, sentenced to 15 months to four years in prison and fined $1,000 for accidents involving death or personal injury, a felony, and driving during suspension, his sixth or subsequent. On May 5, Alter drove his conversion van into a horse-drawn Amish buggy on Hadley Road, Perry Township. The impact threw the horse and the driver 50 to 100 feet into the air, but Alter failed to stop and fled the scene. The buggy driver, Erven Byler, 22 of Pine Road, Hartstown, suffered serious injuries in the accident. The horse was killed.

Gerald Baldwin, 45, of Mitchell Road, West Middlesex, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft, a misdemeanor. On Jan. 15, he conspired with another man to steal a $2,000 large-screen television from Rex Appliance, 579 S. Hermitage Road , Hermitage.

Effinger Buck, 53, of Petersburg Road, Hadley, on five years’ probation for misdemeanor corruption of minors. Between June, 2001 and June 2004, he rubbed his hands over the genital and breast area of a 14-year-old girl at a Sandy Creek Township residence.

John Coates, 19, of River Road, Greenville, sentenced to 11 to 23 months in jail for felony aggravated assault and ordered to make restitution. He stabbed another man in the abdomen three times July 29, 2007, at a Franklin Street, Stoneboro residence. The victim required hospitalization for his injuries.

Johnny Coleman, 31, of Malleable Street, Sharon, sentenced to two to five years in prison consecutive to any current sentences for one consolidated count of possession with intent to deliver, a felony. On Nov. 25, 2007, he possessed 42 rocks of cocaine in the 500 block of South Stateline Road, Sharon.

Randy Hailstock, 50, of Sterling Avenue, Sharon, sentenced to one to five years in prison for felony criminal trespass. On Sept. 6, 2007, he broke into a residence on East Budd Street, Sharon, by climbing onto the roof and popping a fan out of a bedroom window.

Dameco Jackson, 36, of Reed Street, Sharon, sentenced to three to nine months in jail and five years’ probation for retail theft. The crime is a felony because it is his third or subsequent offense. On Dec. 29, 2006, he stole $30 worth of food and diapers from Farrell Golden Dawn, 829 Sharon-New Castle Road.

Frank Metz Jr., 45, of Second Avenue, Sharon, sentenced to two to four years in the state correctional facility for felony arson. On Nov. 22, 2007, he intentionally started a fire at 104 Second Ave., Sharon.

Melissa Trauterman, 32, of Buckley Road, Mercer, resentenced to 123 days to one year in the Mercer County Jail for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. She was sentenced in June this year to one year’s probation for making more than 100 false 911 calls but violated the probation by failing to live in a group home, which was a term of her probation.

Raymond Trepanosky, 35, of Norris Avenue, Farrell, placed on one year’s probation for theft of services, a felony. He obtained electrical service from FirstEnergy by providing his 10-year-old son’s personal information for the account.

Terra Turner, 32, of Union Street, Grove City, placed on two years’ probation for misdemeanor simple assault. She pointed a loaded pistol in a man’s face at a Jones Street, Stoneboro residence March 21.

Jason Wright, 24, of Mahoning Avenue, New Castle, resentenced to 18 to 36 months in the state correctional facility for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. In October 2007, he was placed on probation but violated the probation by absconding supervision and consuming marijuana. His original offense was taking a set of tools from an acquaintance.

Solomon Tatum, 54, of Bond Street, Farrell, placed on one year’s probation and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service for retail theft. The crime is a felony because it is his third or subsequent offense. On Jan. 15, 2007, he stole a $15 hair-cutting set from Rite Aid, 707 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell.

Buckley Thompson, 44, formerly of Roemer Boulevard, Farrell, placed on one year’s probation and ordered to make restitution for theft from a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. He siphoned gasoline from another person’s vehicle in Farrell on March 20.
