Earns chiropractic degree

Heather Allene Heck of New Springfield has received a doctorate of chiropractic degree, magna cum laude, from New York Chiropractic College.

In addition to her doctorate, Dr. Heck also received her master of science in applied clinical nutrition as part of the first graduating class at NYCC and her master of public health from A.T. Still University in Missouri. She plans to work at Northwest Ohio Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Findlay.

While at NYCC, Dr. Heck’s activities included mentoring student interns at the Rochester (N.Y.) Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic, being a member of the Phi Chi Omega Honor Society, serving as a teaching assistant for nutrition and biochemistry and serving as class secretary.

She attended Springfield Local High School in New Middletown and received her bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. She is the daughter of Edward and Shirley Heck of New Springfield.

LAWYERS

Sworn in by high court

Canfield resident Atty. Scott S. Duko was sworn in by the Supreme Court of Ohio and took the oath of office during the admission ceremony at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus. He has opened law offices in Poland and Salem.

In addition to his law practice Duko is an investment adviser. He will concentrate his practice in the areas of trusts, tax planning and investment counsel.
