New Castle man, 24, dies in 1-vehicle crash on Thanksgiving


NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A 24-year-old New Castle man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Thanksgiving morning.

Pennsylvania State Police said Jeff Gurley Jr. of West Edison Street was killed when his 2004 Cadillac traveled off the east berm of Pa. Route 18 at Darlington Road in Wampum borough about 5:10 a.m. Police said he was moving at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete bridge across Route 18.

Gurley was not wearing a seat belt, the report stated.

Deputy Coroner Samuel Teolis pronounced Gurley dead at the accident scene, and state police said their investigation is continuing.
